What is Modem Booster?
Modem Booster is a Web accelerator that addresses the main cause of slow
Internet browsing- fragmentation of data during transmission. This utility
tests modem performance and tweaks the TCP/IP settings accordingly via
a systematic fine-tuning process.
What are requirements to run Modem
Booster?
To run Modem Booster, you must have Internet Explorer 4.0/5.0 installed
on your computer. Your service provider must be able to use Windows Dial-Up
Networking, or is America Online, CompuServe 2000, Microsoft Network (MSN)
or NetZero v3.0.4.
If your service provider is not compatible with the above mentioned, then
refer to your provider to see if there any special methods to connect
to their server with Windows Dial-Up Networking.
How do I configure Modem Booster
to work with my ISP?
Start Modem Booster program and click on the menu item "Tools"
-> "Configuration Wizard". Enter the your service provider details in
the appropriate fields and you all done!
How do I remove the splash screen
To remove the splash screen, start Modem Booster. Select "Options" button from
Modem Booster and check "Hide Welcome Screen". Click "Apply Changes". The next
time your computer is started, the splash screen will not appear.
How do I prevent Modem
Booster from starting when Windows starts?
To prevent Modem Booster from starting when Windows starts, start Modem
Booster. Select "Options" button from Modem Booster and uncheck "Start
Modem Booster when Windows Starts". Click "Apply Changes". The next time
the computer is started, Modem Booster will not run on Windows startup.
Do I need to run Auto Tune every day? How often do I need to
run Auto Tune?
Once you have run Auto Tune once, your Internet
and modem settings will be automatically optimized for best performance.
However, if you notice that your Internet connection speed has slowed
down, run Auto Tune to boost your performance again.
I ran the tune-up test
and don't see any improvement in my connection. Why?
Continue to use Modem Booster for a few more days and check if your
Internet performance has improved. Sometimes it requires a few restarts of Windows
for the optimal modem settings to take effect.
If you find there no improvements in your Internet connection, we suggest that
you run the tune-up test again for a more accurate reading. We recommend that
you run the tune-up test either late at night or early in the morning, when your
service provider has lower traffic and users.
